Type on Point •

Type on Point• share the power of type-design.

Founded in Pittsburgh PA, Type on Point• is a powerful tool for creating and sharing ideas through type design. Pittsburgh has left it’s smog filled past for tech start-ups and community driven green infrastructure. This positive change is important to us and everyone that lives here. We want to reflect that change in the world and empower people with positive ideas to share them in an impactful way. We share everything we feel, dream about, and hope for, with words. Type encodes those words to be delivered through time and space. Type on Point• was born out of the idea that typography is essential to communication and that people cannot ignore the written word. We recognize type for special occasions, legal documents, and advertising as having its own style. Typography has a great power to influence the viewer — because type expresses meaning that goes beyond the written word. Meaningful and important messages should be given a forum. We believe everyone should have access to creative tools that allow for type exploration, and that those creations should become a jumping off point for dialog beyond the web. Collectively we must decide to reject harmful media that erodes reality or teaches hate fear or violence. Although Type on Point• takes a hands off approach to censorship, we encourage the creation of positive messages. Racist epitaphs and hate mongering will not be tolerated. Type on the web has great potential; the new typography is already playing a major role in the way we communicate. The functionality of this web site relies heavily on many great code developers who share their work on open source platforms. You will find links to their work on the credits page. The font selector dropdown renders a curated list of web fonts. If you can’t find your favorite font on the list request it! (fair warning: there are some fonts that will never make the list, I am looking at you Lobster) We have included fonts that support multiple languages, please share which typeface best suits your language needs. “Ek Mukta” for example includes language support for Devanagari with a modern Indian typeface, and “Mada” supports Arabic. Remember these typefaces are designed by amazing people who often put years into their formation. Content creation is in our hands, we decide the future of the internet.
